Microteaching technique was first adopted at Stanford University USA in 1961. Dwight W Allen and his co-workers and is now followef in many countries with modified and improved techniques. It is a training procedure for teachers preparation aimed at simplifying the complexitied of the regular teaching process by analysing it into small aspects and practising each of these.

Microteaching is a small scale down sample of teaching in which a teacher teach a small unit to small group of pupils of 5 to 10 for a small period of 5 to 10 minutes. Such a situation offers a helpful setting for a teacher to acquire new teaching skill and to refine old ones. Microteaching is a new design for teacher training with feedback about their performance immediately after the completion of lesson.
